This image was taken at pallakadu garbage dump Srilanka. The death of elephants in such small and large garbage dumps has become commonplace in Sri Lanka. Apart from that, the death rate of elephants in Sri Lanka is increasing every year due to the actions of irresponsible people. The entire environment is affected and the balance of life on earth is in question. Human responsible for all these.

In the past 2023, unknown people in Iran have poisoned hundreds of students and sent them to hospitals. This shameless action has worried students, parents and people. In this recorded image, I have shown a student who is worried about what is happening in their school with a chemical mask on his mouth.

I used the technique of black-and-white photography, as a generally accepted art expression, which also provides us with the possibility of a strong poetic representation of the authenticity of the spirit of a certain person, which thus becomes present not only to the human eye of visible materialized reality, but also brings feelings of that emotionally elusive world of peace.

KFOR (Kosovo Force) soldiers are on standby near the Zvečan municipality building, waiting for further developments. A few days earlier, large riots broke out there after KFOR attacked Serbian protesters who were sitting on the asphalt blocking the approach to the building. The reason for the dissatisfaction of the local Serbs was that the Kosovo separatists imposed Albanian local government representatives in elections that were boycotted by 97%, which is why they are illegal. The city itself is inhabited exclusively by the Serbian population, which perceives this as a form of pressure and a threat to survival. Over 2,000 Serbs left Zvečan and its surroundings in the following month after the riots broke out and imposition of the illegal local government followed by unjustified arrests of Serbs and repression by the purely ethnically Albanian police. Otherwise, according to UN Resolution 1244, which foresees the presence of KFOR, the presence of any other authority is not allowed until an agreement is reached that will be verified by the United Nations. The Albanians openly violate the UN Resolution, the basis of the situation and stability in Kosovo, while KFOR helps them all the time, also against the same document, even though they draw legitimacy for their presence exclusively from it.

Nusrat (10 years), a little fellow of the slum, jumped over the dirty canal while holding books. Her friend is in the queue to cross the canal. Risking their own lives to cross the canal to get back to school has become their regular routine. This photo was taken from Mohakhali, Dhaka on June 08, 2022. A large proportion of migrants from villages end up in urban slums. Dhaka city has more than 5,000 slums inhabited by an estimated four million people. For children living in slum areas, life is difficult and often dangerous, with high rates of malnourishment, school dropout, child marriage, child labor, and abuse. Water and air pollution from poor waste and traffic management pose serious health risks. Beyond the risks of violence, assault, and harassment, women and girls often face discrimination in daily urban life.

Bangui

Born in Central African Republic in 1993 and raised in France, my interest in post-colonial African history led me to explore west and central Africa, principally Senegal and Congo. After ten years abroad, I returned to CAR in 2017, witnessing its challenges firsthand. Despite its instability and destruction, I'm compelled to document Bangui's reality through photography. "Lost Illusions" isn't just photos; it's a visual narrative, capturing the unseen lives and stories of its people. Through my lens, I aim to reveal the complexity of human existence, inviting viewers to experience Bangui's essence and diversity. In the end, this is my attempt to give a voice to the unheard and showcase the richness of my homeland.

An Indian court in the southern state of Karnataka had addressed the contentious issue surrounding the ban on Muslim headscarves in schools. In a recent ruling, the court has temporarily suspended the wearing of religious garments by students until a final decision is made. This ruling comes after weeks of escalating protests, violence, and the subsequent closure of schools across the state, which later spread throughout the entire country. The ban on wearing the hijab was initially enforced by a school for girls located in the city of Udupi, Karnataka. However, this particular incident has now evolved into a significant battle over minority rights in India, provoking widespread debate and concern. It is essential to note that Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian constitution grants individuals the constitutional right to express themselves through their choice of clothing. Consequently, the ban on Muslim headscarves has ignited a substantial conflict with respect to the constitutional rights enshrined in India's legal framework. The court's decision to temporarily suspend the wearing of religious garments aims to maintain a sense of neutrality while the issue is under review. This approach seeks to balance the concerns of minority rights with the principles of freedom of expression.

Piles of garbage in Anandabazar, Chittagong. Where the old garbage remains untreated for years, the city's daily garbage accumulates thereby adversely affecting the surrounding environment, and the Bay of Bengal is located 300 feet away from the garbage dump, thus, the garbage is washed into the sea by wind and sewage lines. As a result, the sea water is getting polluted and the number of fish on the coast is decreasing. As a result, the lives of fishermen who depend on fishing are becoming miserable. Also here women as well as men work in garbage heaps. They work here on a contract basis for BDT-300-350 per day. On the contrary, they face various physical problems and often get sick, but they work here for little money to run the family, thereby supporting the family financially.

The Nile River Sellers

The Nile is not only the longest river in the world, but also a source of life, culture, and commerce for millions of people. In this series of photos, I capture a glimpse of the vibrant and colorful floating market on the Nile River, where the sellers follow the touristic cruise ships and throw their wares into the ship’s deck, hoping that someone will trade with them. This photo portrays the skill and courage of the sellers, who navigate the river on small boats, dodge the waves and currents, and toss their products with precision and speed.
