New fathers
Have the demands on family roles changed these days?
Traditionally, the intrafamily roles of men and women were distributed as follows: the husband is the breadwinner, the head of the family, decides all the main issues, the wife is the keeper of the hearth, responsible for everyday life, the household, and children. In other words, a man’s area of responsibility is the external component, society, the connection between the family and society, and women are the space within the family. In the modern world the situation has changed somewhat. Over the last century, husband and wife have acquired equal rights and responsibilities in matters of creating a family and raising children. At least legally. True, in reality this equality does not always manifest itself. When a marriage is dissolved, in most cases the child remains with the mother, and in our country, as a rule, women go on maternity leave. Moreover, men make such decisions “in favor of women” mostly voluntarily. But there are other options.
In modern times, the role of the father has truly changed. Fathers have become more involved in raising and caring for their children. They are not only breadwinners, but also actively participate in the day-to-day care of children. The modern father is not limited to the role of providing the material needs of the family, but also strives to be an emotional support for his children. He actively participates in the child’s games, activities, entertainment and educational process. The father tries to establish an emotional connection with the children and be an example for them. Modern fathers also show greater responsibility and participation in caring for their children. They change diapers, feed, bathe and put their babies to bed. These changes in the role of fathers reflect general changes in society, where equal rights and shared parenthood are increasingly recognized and valued. The father is no longer seen only as a “breadwinner”, but as an active participant in the life of his family. However, despite these positive changes, much work remains to achieve full equality and participation of fathers in raising children. Public opinion and stereotypes may continue to put pressure on fathers to adhere to traditional roles. It is important to continue to recognize and support these changes to ensure a more equal and happy future for all family members.
