Chhath Puja is one of the major festivals of India. The festival lasts for four days and during Chhath Puja prayers are dedicated to the solar deity, Surya, to express gratitude and thankfulness for the gift of life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes be granted. This auspicious day is observed by praying to Lord Sun and his wife Usha by lighting clay lamps and taking a dip in the holy waters of Ganga.
