In the photo is Archimandrite Gregory (Zoumis), rector of the Dohiar Monastery on Mount Athos, author of the amazing books "The People of the Church I Knew", "The God-loving". Geronda was widely known outside the Holy Mountain, and people came to him from all over the world to attend his talks, hear his wise words, and gain support. Thanks to such meetings, books were published in which the abbot describes his heroes with great warmth — laymen and monks, many of whom he was familiar with. His books are full of good humor, sincerity and life wisdom. Having great authority, the elder was very simple in communication and walked in old clothes. In the last years of his life, he was seriously ill, but humbly endured the torments of an incurable disease, and on October 22, 2018, at the age of 76, the elder died.
